Since 2015, the Santa Fe Desert Chorale has initiated innovative collaborations, partnering with other leading arts and culture institutions to increase access to ‘the beauty and power of great choral music’.
Please join us in this effort: we welcome your interest and encourage you to volunteer to help us better serve our greater community.
Build your confidence and love of singing.
Launched in 2016, Santa Fe Sings! is a choral workshop for singers of all backgrounds led by Artistic Director Joshua Habermann. Singers of all backgrounds are invited to come cultivate their love for singing and nurture their confidence as they create music together.
In addition to individual singers, many area choruses are represented. Previous ensembles include:
- Coro de Cámara
- New Mexico Peace Choir
- Sangre de Cristo Chorale
- Santa Fe Music Works
- Santa Fe Men’s Camerata
- Santa Fe Symphony & Chorus
- Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble
Thank you to our generous underwriters, Stephen and Jane Hochberg, and The United Church of Santa Fe.

The Hearts in Harmony Community Singing Program at The Life Link
Led by Desert Chorale artist Sarah Nickerson and pianist Holly Mead, guests, staff, and volunteers join together at The Life Link to create a sense of community through song.
We are grateful to donors like you for making this innovative, joyful program possible since it was first launched in 2017 at the Interfaith Community Shelter. Hearts in Harmony offers a weekly community singing group in which participants learn, rehearse, and perform choral music with Desert Chorale artists. The group is open to anyone receiving services at The Life Link regardless of musical experience and allows participants to build self-esteem, increase their self-confidence, create personal connections, and express themselves through music.
Support the composers of our time by joining SFDC’s Commissioning Club today!
The Commissioning Club works to identify and advance emerging composers, to expand the choral canon for choruses around the world, and to ensure the legacy of the Desert Chorale as one of the country’s leading chamber choirs. The Club builds on the Desert Chorale’s rich tradition: in its 40 years, the Chorale has commissioned 30 works by 27 composers. A composer for the 2026 programming season will be chosen after reviewing scores and listening to selections suggested by Artistic Director Joshua Habermann.
A $1,000 contribution per person toward the composer’s commissioning fee is all that is required to join. The result is an enduring addition to the repertoire. Commissioning Club members are invited to attend the dress rehearsal of the new work, enjoy a private evening with the composer, and take home an archival recording of the commissioned work – for your ears only.
Composers sponsored by the Commissioning Club:
Jocelyn Hagen—2022
Kile Smith—2023
Daniel Knaggs—2024
Ernesto Herrera—2025
Shavon Lloyd—2026
