Santa Fe Desert Chorale seeks a people-oriented problem-solver to help us create welcoming concert experiences for music lovers of all backgrounds. As our Patron Services Associate, you will leverage your interpersonal and technical skills to facilitate an exceptional patron experience for our growing audience. Your creative energy and organizational talents will help shape patron-centric marketing strategies, promoting the Chorale’s concerts, community events, and other initiatives. You will also play a crucial role in managing daily office operations, creating an optimal environment for both patrons and fellow colleagues. While reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director, you can expect to interact with all members of our highly-collaborative team.

Responsibilities:
Patron Services – 50%

  • Under the direction of the Sales & Marketing Director, set the tone for a positive patron experience as the primary box office contact by:
    • Providing high-touch, solutions-oriented customer service including processing ticket orders and donations via phone, email, and in person
    • Maintaining complete and accurate patron contact and transaction records
    • Supporting our group sales program and discount initiatives
    • Supporting audience retention and growth initiatives, including preparation of first-time patron welcome materials; audience surveys and analysis; and regular, proactive customer contact
  • Represent the Desert Chorale at community events and concerts as onsite box office lead, including thorough preparation of equipment, materials, and supplies, as well as execution of onsite event setup

Marketing and Promotion – 25%

  • Enhance the Desert Chorale’s publicity and marketing efforts through
    • Copywriting for various marketing materials, both print and digital
    • Maintaining regular communication with press contacts and advertisers
    • Providing administrative support to the Sales & Marketing Director and assistance with various projects (ex. mailings, seasonal program books, video and photo shoots, and archive maintenance)
  • Maintain and inventory merchandise, including processing and fulfilling orders in a timely manner

Office and General Administrative Support – 25%

  • Create a welcoming environment for staff and patrons by ensuring the office stays neat and organized
  • Ensure all lines of communication are functioning properly and attended to daily, including phone systems, general and box office email inboxes, and office mail
  • Oversee proper functioning, care, and storage of office equipment
  • Inventory and replenish office supplies, adhering to budget
  • Maintain staff calendar as well as internal and external calendars for all ticketed events
  • Track and execute space requests and meeting needs, providing proper technical support

  • Facility in learning and becoming expert with new software; experience with Google Workspace, Creative Cloud, PatronManager/Salesforce and/or Monday.com is a plus
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the choral art form

Systems: All Desert Chorale employees interface with the following platforms

  • GMail, Google calendar, Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.), MS Office, and Adobe
  • Monday.com project and task management platform
  • PatronManager CRM (customer relationship management)

Education and Qualifications: Your experience matters, but we also know you are more than a degree and a resumé

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution preferred
  • Prior experience of 2 years+ in performing arts, marketing, events, box office, or other closely related field
  • Spanish language skills preferred
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle with valid drivers’ license
  • Ability move up to 25 pounds (up to 10 pounds frequently)
  • In-person work and New Mexico residency is required. Relocation expenses up to $2,000 are reimbursable.

What to expect

The mission of the Santa Fe Desert Chorale is to excite, engage, and inspire diverse audiences with the beauty and power of great choral music. Operating since 1982, the Desert Chorale is one of the top professional choirs in the country, producing a summer festival in July/early August and a winter season in December as well as ad hoc events throughout the year. During peak seasons, the person in this role will work evening and weekend events in addition to daytime office hours. The Desert Chorale is committed to facilitating a reasonable work-life balance, and particularly during non-peak times of the year, more flexibility in scheduling and occasional remote work are possible.

Schedule

  • M-F, 40 hours/week (except for concert seasons)
  • Evening/weekend hours will be required during concert seasons and throughout the year for special events

Compensation

  • $40,000-47,000 year, commensurate with experience (full-time, nonexempt)
  • Medical, vision, dental, as well as disability insurance coverage, with all premiums paid by the Chorale
  • Annual Paid Time Off: 15 vacation days (earned via monthly accrual), plus 10 federal holidays and December 24-31 (8 days)
  • Earned Sick Leave accrued per state law (Healthy Workplaces Act): one hour per 30 hours worked
  • SIMPLE IRA plan matched at 3% (available following one year of employment)
